Pivet Scholarship

The Helen and Leonard Pivet Scholarship Fund was established at the First United Methodist Church to support educational pursuits, beyond high school, of deserving women and men in the congregation through financial assistance.
Helen and Leonard Pivet became members of First United Methodist Chuirch in 1947, and through the years have taken on many leadership roles and shown great support for the children and youth of the church. Having grown up in the Great Depression eras, they were especially aware of the things that they could not afford to do as children. Especially, Leonard wanted to enable young people to attend college, something he was unable to afford. It was out of this generous desire that Leonard created this scholarship fund in Helen's honor after her death on February 14, 2005.
Each year the fund will provide the selected student with 1 $2,000 scholarship ($1000 per semester) paid directly to the school to be attended. The award is renewable annually with satisfactory evidence of progress toward completion of an accredited degree program, not to exceed four years. A new scholarship will be awarded each year.
Applicants are limited to full members of First United Methodist Church of Wausau that are active within the church and are recent high school graduates, though adults returning to school may also apply.
A Selection Committee will meet annually to review applications and make a selection based on the following guidelines:
  • Scholastic achievement
